Whether you're already a member of the Stargate community - or thinking about becoming one - it's important to understand the expanded role parents play in a Charter community, as well as the ways in which a Charter school is similar to, and different from, other public schools.

Charter Schools - the Basics

Charter schools are unique public schools that are allowed the freedom to be more innovative while being held accountable for advancing student achievement.

  • Charter schools are public schools

  • Charter schools do not charge tuition

  • Charter schools are bound by federal and state public school laws

  • Charter schools do not discriminate

  • Charter schools accept students with disabilities and/or special needs

  • Charter schools do not teach religion
