Visual Arts
Visual / Studio Arts
Students explore drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media, and more in both 2D and 3D art and design.
Students build strong technical skills while also developing an appreciation for both traditional and contemporary art. They learn to take ideas from concept to final creation through hands-on projects.
Many student artworks are featured in competitions and showcased in Stargate’s annual art show, celebrating creativity and artistic growth.
Graphic & Web Design
Students learn the foundations of graphic and web design, including balance, contrast, rhythm, unity, color theory, typography, and layout.
Students apply these skills through hands-on projects such as word art, logo design, posters, and web-based design work. As they grow, they complete real-world style projects and build a professional portfolio.
Students also develop career-ready “soft skills” such as communication, email etiquette, customer service, proofreading, and problem-solving—helping them understand what it’s like to work as a design professional.
Technical Arts
Mobile Apps & Video Games
At Stargate, a Colorado charter school for gifted learners, students combine creativity, science, and engineering in mobile app and video game design.
In game design, students create animated characters and build interactive story worlds. They also learn basic C# coding using Unity, a professional game development platform.
In mobile app development, students apply design thinking and computer science skills to create functional, user-friendly applications. These projects help students build problem-solving, coding, and digital design skills for real-world technology careers.
Elementary Art
K–5 students explore creativity through hands-on visual arts experiences.
Elementary Art focuses on building “Habits of Mind” such as observing, reflecting, envisioning, creating, and problem-solving. Students learn to express ideas visually while developing artistic skills and confidence.
The program also connects art to other subjects like language arts, history, science, and math. Students build creativity, communication, responsibility, and critical thinking through the creative process.
