Music
Instrumental & Chamber Ensembles
At Stargate, students of all skill levels—beginner to advanced—can participate in band and orchestra.
Students perform in at least three concerts each year while building strong musical skills. They learn how to audition, collaborate in ensemble groups, and perform a mix of traditional and contemporary music.
As their skills grow, many students also participate in competitive and honors opportunities such as All-State, Western States, CHSAA Solo & Ensemble, CU Honor Band, and other regional music festivals and ensembles.
Musical Composition & Music Theory
Students explore the fundamentals of music, including rhythm, melody, harmony, musical form, and analysis.
Students learn how to compose, perform, and conduct music while creating their own original pieces. Their work may include setting poetry to music, studying existing compositions, using music theory to build structure, and learning basic orchestration.
Students are also expected to perform on their chosen instrument as part of their learning and creative process.
Choir & Concert Choir
Students develop vocal technique, music fundamentals, and strong choral skills.
Students perform in at least two concerts each semester, including school performances, festivals, and competitions. Through choir, students build confidence, teamwork, and musicianship while performing a variety of vocal music.
Rock Band & The Business of Music
Students in Rock Band build musicianship by working in small groups and learning to collaborate with others. They perform at least once each semester.
In Applied Music, students explore the business side of music. They learn how to schedule performances, use websites and social media professionally, work with sound equipment and recording software, and develop skills to become marketable musicians.
Dramatic Arts
Theatre & Performing Arts
Students explore theatre through comedies, dramas, musicals, one-act plays, and Shakespeare.
Students take on roles both on stage and behind the scenes, including acting, directing, set design, lighting and sound, costumes, and makeup.
They study character development, scene work, script analysis, and performance interpretation while also building skills in writing and critical thinking.
Through theatre, students develop confidence, creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, focus, and flexibility as they prepare and perform in productions.

Students explore storytelling through video and film production.
Students write, produce, direct, and edit their own projects while also learning to act and operate technical equipment. They gain hands-on experience with planning, filming, lighting, sound, and editing.
Students also study film and media, including film history and storytelling techniques, while building skills in writing, collaboration, creativity, and technical production.
Elementary Music Program
K–5 students explore music through singing, instruments, movement, music theory, and improvisation.
Students learn the basics of music, including vocal and instrumental technique and key periods in music history. They also build early performance skills and confidence.
Each trimester, students have the opportunity to perform in a school concert.
