The Lottery Process
Lottery Priority
Priority order:
-
Siblings – Brothers or sisters of current Stargate students (or students who have already accepted a seat).
-
Children of Employees – Students of current Stargate staff.
-
Board Member Children – Students of current or past Independent Board members who served at least one full year in good standing.
-
In-District Students – Students who live in the Adams 12 Five Star School District, or those who live outside the district but have attended an Adams 12 school for at least one full year. Proof of residency is requested (utility bill, mortgage, etc.).
-
Out-of-District Students – Students living outside Adams 12.
Returning Students
If a student leaves Stargate for up to one year, families can request placement in the waitpool. If a seat isn’t offered within that year, students must reapply and enter the lottery with new applicants.
The Lottery
Seat Offers and Waitpools
After the Lottery
-
Once the lottery is finished, seat offers will be sent through SchoolMint. Please check that your account is set to get both texts and emails.
-
If a seat isn’t available right away, your child will be placed in a waitpool for their grade. This is different from a numbered waitlist. When seats open, we run a computerized lottery from the waitpool so every student has an equal chance.
-
If you decline a seat offer, that spot will be given to another student in the waitpool, and your child would need to reapply next year.
-
If your child doesn’t get a seat this year, they’ll be removed from the waitpool at the end of the school year. To be included in next year’s lottery, you’ll need to submit a new application in SchoolMint. The good news is we’ll keep your child’s Body of Evidence on file, so no new information will be requested.
Reminder: You must complete a new application each year. If you don’t apply again, your student will not be included in the next lottery.
