How to Apply

Stargate School is a K-12 charter school for gifted learners.
It is located within the boundaries of the Adams 12 Five Star School District.
 
 
All students applying to Stargate must complete an application in the electronic application system, SchoolMint.
 

After creating a SchoolMint account, you will have the ability to complete an application.

Applications are only available during the admissions window listed on the Important Dates page.

Stargate reviews a Body of Evidence (referred to as BOE) submitted with each application to determine if Stargate is an appropriate educational placement for each student.

A body of evidence or BOE is the name given to the multiple data points collected about a student to demonstrate giftedness or the potential for giftedness. Think of a BOE like building a complete picture of your child, like putting together puzzle pieces that show different aspects of your child's abilities. Instead of relying on just one test score, we look at multiple pieces of information to get the full story of your child's abilities and potential. 

 
Examples of puzzle pieces we look at:
 
Cognitive Assessment:
This measures how your child's brain works, how they solve puzzles, figure out patterns, understand words and ideas, and think through problems. It's like a workout for their mind to see how strong their thinking muscles are.
 
Standardized Assessment Scores:
These are tests your child may have already taken at school in subjects like math and reading.
Examples include: CMAS, ATI-Galileo, NWEA/MAPS, iReady, PSAT, SAT, ACT, Renaissance STAR, ITBS, and others. If your child is applying for 2nd grade and higher, and does not have scores for any of the assessments listed above, please email [email protected] to ask for assistance.
If your child is applying for kindergarten or 1st grade, we will provide academic testing. Once the application is submitted, we will contact you to schedule this assessment.
 
Student Ability Rating:
After you apply, we'll ask your child's current teacher to fill out a form about how your child learns, behaves, and performs in class. This gives us insight into your child's daily learning habits and abilities. Make sure to give us your teacher's name, school, and email address!
 
 
Assistance for establishing the requested body of evidence is available for applicants.
Stargate will also provide assistance for MLL students to ensure that language access does not distort this process.

 

Assessment information may be available on your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Please check your parent portal for assessment information to complete your student's body of evidence.
  • Once you submit your application, you will receive an email through SchoolMint to confirm submission of the application.
  • When your application has been reviewed by the Admissions Office, you will receive another email to confirm the application is complete (this may take up to 7 business days to receive).
  • If your application is missing documentation, you will receive an email identifying what is required to complete the application.

Proof of residence is ONLY required for priority purposes.
You are not required to live within the Adams 12 Five St7ar School District in order to apply to Stargate.
