How to Apply

Stargate School uses Finalsite for our admissions process. Finalsite is your Parent Portal for completing and tracking your student's application.

Applications must be submitted by December 9th at 11:59pm to be included in the lottery. Any applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

Portal Setup:

1. Create your Parent Portal account

Create an account using your email address and a password of your choice.

2. Submit your application

Complete and submit an application for your student before December 9th, 2026 at 11:59pm.

3. Complete your Admissions Checklist

After you submit your application, your Admissions Checklist will become your guide for the rest of the admissions process. It will show you what items are still needed and where to complete them.

4. Upload your documents

Use your Admissions Checklist to upload the required documents that make up your student's Body of Evidence (BOE).

5. Watch for updates

Check your Parent Portal and email regularly for important messages, missing assessment information, and other next steps.

Body of Evidence (BOE)

Stargate reviews a Body of Evidence (referred to as BOE) submitted with each application to determine if Stargate is an appropriate educational placement for each student.

Depending on your student’s grade level, their school may have already administered cognitive and/or academic assessments that can be used as part of their Body of Evidence.

Please check your Infinite Campus Parent Portal for any available assessment information before scheduling or submitting additional assessments.

A body of evidence or BOE, is the name given to the multiple data points collected about a student to demonstrate giftedness or the potential for giftedness. Think of a BOE like building a complete picture of your child, like putting together puzzle pieces that show different aspects of your child's abilities. Instead of relying on just one test score, we look at multiple pieces of information to get the full story of your child's abilities and potential.

Examples of puzzle pieces we look at:

Cognitive Assessment:

This measures how your child's brain works, how they solve puzzles, figure out patterns, understand words and ideas, and think through problems. It's like a workout for their mind to see how strong their thinking muscles are.

Standardized Assessment Scores:

These are tests your child may have already taken at school in subjects like math and reading.

Examples include: CMAS, ATI-Galileo, NWEA/MAPS, iReady, PSAT, SAT, ACT, Renaissance STAR, ITBS, and others. If your child is applying for 2nd grade and higher, and does not have scores for any of the assessments listed above, please email [email protected] to ask for assistance.

If your child is applying for kindergarten or 1st grade, we will provide academic testing. Once the application is submitted, we will contact you to schedule this assessment.

Student Ability Rating:

After you apply, we'll ask your child's current teacher to fill out a form about how your child learns, behaves, and performs in class. This gives us insight into your child's daily learning habits and abilities. Make sure to give us your teacher's name, school, and email address!

Assistance for establishing the requested body of evidence is available for applicants.

Stargate will also provide assistance for MLL students to ensure that language access does not distort this process.

Applying For Kindergarten

All kindergarten applicants are asked to come to Stargate for an academic screener. This screener helps us measure each child’s potential for giftedness.

The academic screener will be scheduled after you complete an application for your student and it has been submitted to Stargate.

If you want Stargate to give your child the cognitive assessment:

We will schedule both tests on the same day
Your child will take the cognitive assessment and the academic screener together

If your child already took a cognitive assessment somewhere else:

Your child will only need to take the academic screener at Stargate
We will schedule just this one test

*Testing will be offered on most Wednesdays until the application deadline. Dates will open one at a time, with the next Wednesday becoming available once the current date is full. We encourage families to secure a testing date as soon as possible, as testing availability cannot be guaranteed.

Applying For First Grade

Students applying to 1st grade may have taken standardized assessments in reading and/or math in their kindergarten year. These results should be uploaded to their application.

If your student does not have standardized academic results, we ask that your student completes an academic screener at Stargate.

If you want Stargate to give your child the cognitive assessment:

Your child will only need to take the academic screener at Stargate
We will schedule just this one test

Applying For 2nd-12th Grade

As part of the Body of Evidence (BOE), applicants are asked to submit Standardized Assessment Scores.

Important: Report cards are not considered standardized assessments and cannot be used as part of a BOE.

Private Psychologist Resources

Stargate School does not provide a list of recommended psychologists. However, the Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented (CAGT) website offers a list of providers in the area that may be helpful as you begin your search.

Please note that cognitive testing completed at Stargate and testing completed by a private psychologist are equally valid options. Neither is preferred over the other, and choosing one does not provide an advantage in the admissions process.

After You Submit An Application

Once you submit your application, you will receive an email confirming that it has been successfully received.

Application Review: After the Admissions Office reviews your application, you will receive an email confirming that your application is complete. Please allow up to 7 business days for this review.
Missing Information: If additional documentation or information is needed, you will receive an email outlining what is required to complete your application. Your Admissions Checklist in the Parent Portal will also reflect any outstanding items.
