Policy At a Glance – K-8 Lottery Process

Stargate values each and every application we receive. Because the number of qualified applicants typically exceeds the number of seats available, a lottery is conducted each year to determine placements for available seats, including all kindergarten seats.

To participate in the lottery, you must first apply. Only qualified applicants will be considered.

Seats will be distributed to siblings first and employee’s children second. Next, a lottery will determine the seat distribution and wait list priority for remaining qualified candidates, giving priority to in-district applicants. Once a student has qualified for Stargate School, students are not ranked by score.

If a current seat offer is declined, the applicant voluntarily gives up their enrollment opportunity and must re-apply in writing for the following year.

Your child MUST be 5 years old on 10/1 of the year they intend to start school to participate in the kindergarten lottery and 6 years old on 10/01 of the year they intend to start school to apply for first grade.

All students in existing wait pools may remain in those pools until they receive seat offers, so long as they confirm their interest in remaining in the wait pool in writing each fall, per our admissions policy. At any grade level where there is currently no wait pool (Kindergarten every year), a lottery process will determine seating for all qualified students.

Qualified out-of-district students may be admitted only if there is space available after all in-district qualified candidates, as defined in Section 2, have been admitted.

Stargate values each and every application we receive. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the application process.
