Thank you for your participation with the "Me, Myself and I" posters. The children have enjoyed sharing their information and have done such a good job with their posters. We are displaying these in the classroom as the children are so proud of their work as they should be! We will continue until each child has created a poster. Hopefully, this will be a keepsake from kindergarten they can look back upon and enjoy.

In theme, we have finished our study of vertebrates and have now begun studying 'invertebrates'. We will also be studying ' water ' from the rain cycle to the different forms water can take. We welcome any 'share' items your child may have related to these topics we are studying.

Please include a water bottle for your child as the days get warmer. Be sure to mark his/her name on the bottle and we will make sure your child has every opportunity to refill as needed. A small bottle of sunblock that can be left in their cubby would also be helpful as we have very little shade on our playground.

The children are working so hard on their graduation activities. They are looking forward to sharing this special time with all of you! Thanks to Mr. Osbourne for all his efforts with the children.

Thanks again to all the parents who bring in such wonderul snacks and participate in our classroom activities. We appreciate your efforts and thoughtfulness.

Each child will be making a "Me, Myself and I" poster for share time. We will do two children a week until the end of school. Please watch for the poster when it comes home with your child. It will come home on a Monday and will need to be returned to school the next Monday. He/she may use photographs, drawings or pictures from magazines to complete this share project which will be displayed in the classroom. We will laminate the poster so please only use photographs that you don't mind staying on the poster. Have fun!

Share time has been a huge hit. The children love standing behind the podium and being the center of attention! Everyone has been participating and doing a great job.Thank you for encouraging your child in this kindergarten tradition.

In theme, we are continuing our study of Africa, the rainforest and the animals that live in these habitats. We will be starting our animal research projects soon.

The snack schedule needs your attention.We still need snack for 10 weeks of school. The week of March 10th and all of April and May are open. Each family needs to cover 2 weeks of morning snack for the year. Please contact me with your choice of weeks if you have only sent snack once. I have finally received a password for my voicemail at school so please feel free to call!

We are also running very low on gluesticks as the children use these constantly. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to all the volunteers for your time. We know how busy your schedules are and we so appreciate the help you provide for our class.

Thank you for all the kindness and consideration you have shown me over the last two weeks. I am enjoying your children so much and it feels as if we are settling into a comfortable routine in the classroom. I appreciate your patience as I 'learn the ropes' here at Stargate.

The museum will be in our classroom on Tues., Feb 12. Please see the team page for details.

Our 100th Day of School celebration is Wed., Feb.13. The children may wear pj's and bring their favorite stuffed animal that day.

The Valentine's party is Thursday afternoon at 1:30. Morning students stay all day so please have your child bring a sack lunch so we can eat in the classroom.

Kindergarten will go to the Arvada Center Tuesday, Feb. 26th. to see a charming musical called, "A Year With Frog and Toad." The play follows the adventures of two best friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the grumpy, worry-wart Toad, as they journey through four fun-filled seasons. Everyone please bring a sack lunch so we can eat in our room when we return. Half-day students need to be picked up by 12:30. We look foward to all the fun!!

Our next theme unit is the great continent of Africa. We will learn about the rich diversity of the people, land, and animals. We will explore life on the African savannah, and other habitats including the rainforest. Through literature and folk tales we'll emphasise the strength of common ties between cultures. The students will do an in class animal project. They will choose an animal, research it and report what they learned to the class. They will have a partner to work with on this project. African shares are welcome!!!

Homeroom and Theme News:

Our new specials starting this week will be Music and Art.

Mrs. Lineham will be in on Tuesday and Ms. Murphy will start on Wednesday, January 23rd.

Our upcoming theme units will be light energy/shadows, Africa and animals.

Thank you for all of your support and kind words. I have especially loved all of the hugs from 'my kids'.

Please remember to include a jacket in the backpack on potentially cold days. We have had some cool mornings without jackets.

Class Information

Specials this week are PE and Computers. We will have new specials beginning January, 22.

If you are out shopping and find a great sale, we really need glue sticks, markers, and colored pencils for the classroom. These are a consumed quickly by our busy Kindergarteners.

I will attempt to send my newsletters via email, however in the past this has been a lengthy process that does not always work.

Some parents have been asking for posted homework assignments on the web. Due to copyright law, we can no longer post worksheets online. If your child looses something please ask the teacher for another copy.

We appreciate what you do!

Dismissal Procedure

All full-day students need to be signed out at the end of the day by a parent or guardian. According to the laws for an enrichment program siblings under twelve years old cannot sign out a Kindergartener. Dismissal will begin at 2:45pm, and at 1:15 pm on Wednesdays.

Kindergarten parents will need to park in the church parking lot located just west of Stargate School, then walk to the Kindergarten playground where you must sign your child out with their teacher. Parents who have siblings in 1st and 2nd grade, may have those children dismissed to the Kindergarten playground where you will also pick them up. If you wish for your 1st or 2nd grader to join us in the Kindergarten area, please send a note or an email to notify the kinder teachers and the 1/2 teachers. We want to make sure all of the students are safe and accounted for.

If you have children in 3rd-8th grades, you must pick them up in their designated areas. Please remember to use the school crosswalk when crossing the parkig lot.

All Eagles Landing students will be cared for by a teacher and will be escorted to the program at the appropriate time.
