Upcoming Conferences
By Darlene Gelakoska on 9/25/2007

Please schedule your first conference to discuss your child's success or progress toward meeting academic and socio-emotional goals.  This conference is with your student's homeroom teacher, as this is the teacher that knows your child best. Mark your first, second, and third choices and return the schedule to me as soon as possible. I will send you a confirmation note with your conference time. Thank you, and have a great week.

Theme
By Darlene Gelakoska on 9/17/2007

We experienced our first fire drill last week with NO tears! The Friends did great, and did exactly what was expected of them. We are discussing safety, and are excited about the Thornton Fire Department coming to us Oct. 1st.

The Friends will start sharing their,"All About Me" poster this week. These turned out really cute, so Mrs. Morelli lamenated them for keepsakes.

We continue with the senses this week. There is no Theme homework. Enjoy!

We start literacy classes tomorrow. Hope to see you tonight!! Look for your child's, "All About Me" poster on our bulltin board!  Thanks

Scholastic Volunteer
By Darlene Gelakoska on 9/13/2007
Does anyone want to be our Scholastic order person?  You would be in charge of putting together the booklets, placing the order, and putting together the orders when we get the books.  I don't have time to do this, but I want to offer the book orders to the class.  We get great deals on books, and points for fun classroom stuff.  Please  let me know if you are interested.  Thanks

What's Happening This Week...
By Darlene Gelakoska on 9/12/2007

This week for math we continue with patterns, counting, and money. We will work with symmetry and a bit of geometry too.  For homework there's a sheet on counting things around the house, like doorknobs and such. In theme, we will begin lessons on the body, including hygiene, and safety. Homework is a sheet on feelings. Thank you for helping with homework; the Friends are doing a wonderful job!!

Dear Parents
By Darlene Gelakoska on 9/3/2007

We are having fun in the classroom getting to know each other, and making new friends. Last week we started our, "Read All About Me" poster by answering questions to fascinating facts, and favorite things. The Friends will continue these this week by adding their photo, coloring and sharing their poster with the class. Please remember to send in a photo for this poster. Thank You!!!

Chain of Kindness

Please ask your student about our "Chain of Kindness" in the classroom. We started this to help promote kindness.  I have a feeling it will grow very quickly!

By Darlene Gelakoska on 8/31/2007

Some class information:   If you would like to put an extra change of clothes in your child's backpack, in case of a spill or accident that would be great.  We'll leave it in the pack and use it if needed.

Our Specials for the next 6 weeks are P.E. and Computers.  Our classroom schedule is included in the Monday folder packet.

Our lunch rules have changed, and we are now not able to do heat ups for Kindergarten. Students can buy milk without buying a full lunch.

If you have signed up for volunteering we will get with you soon, or when it's approprriate.

Regarding Pick-up:  This proceedure is new to kindergarten please be patient while we work out kinks.  We begin releasing students at 2:45.  If you have a 1/2 sibling they may come ...
