Hello everyone!

Go Rockies!

What We Have Been Doing

For Theme last week we studied the heart, lungs, and brains. The students are making a life-size picture of themselves and adding each body part as we learn. This week we will learn about the digestive system and skeletal system. We learn about the planets later this month.

For Math we made three dimensional geometric shapes with toothpicks and marshmallows. The students took their creations home if they wanted to. They were so creative! We also talked more about symmetry and they created a number book. We will play some math games this week that explore the "less than" and "more than" concepts. Ask your child at the end of the week about the game. They would love to play with you!

Mrs. Warga

Please welcome Mrs. Warga to our classroom. Mrs. Warga is taking Mrs. Bender's position in the classroom. Mrs. Bender has found the flexibility of substituting for teachers much better for her family. The students will still see her pretty often. If you have a chance, please introduce yourself to Mrs. Warga when you see her. Thanks!

Conferences

This Wednesday school will end at 11:30a.m. Please pick up your child at that time. Half day Kindergarten will end at 11:00a.m. as usual. There will be no school on Thursday and Friday this week due to conferences. If you have not turned in your conference form, please give it to me ASAP. Monday will be a teacher work day, so there will be no school, as well. You will not meet with your child's literacy teacher during the October conferences. If you would like to make an appointment, please email or call the teacher. During the next conferences you will have a chance to talk with them if you would like.

Also, I will only have 20 minutes to talk with you. I will share the assessments we have taken and talk about what they mean. If you have any questions or concerns about your child, please share them with me in the beginning of the conference. Thanks!

There will be no homework this week due to conferences.

Field Trip

We will visit the Pumpkin Patch on October 19. I need two parents to volunteer to chaperone. If you have a young child, they will not be able to come with us because we need all adult eyes on our Kindergarteners.

Book Orders

Book orders will come home with your child today. If the book you ordered is out of stock, Scholastic has given you either a book or a coupon. The books will be sent to the classroom as soon as they get them in. The catalogs for this month's order will go home tomorrow. The book orders will have Halloween and Thanksgiving books. I was able to get many books for the classroom with help from you last orders, so thank you!

Have a wonderful week and I am looking forward to meeting with you.
