What We Have Been Doing:
Math- We will be celebrating our 100th day of school this week. We are also learning our phone numbers and the numbers for emergency, the police department and the fire department. We are also finidng the complements of 10 later this week. The students did pretty well on their math tests. YAY!
Theme- We finished up learning about the Savannah last week. The students made posters of the Savannah to show what they have learned. This week we will begin studying the desert in Africa. We will learn about Egypt, the pyramids, and hieroglyphics in this unit.
100th day celebration
On Wednesday, Feb. 13, we will have our 100th day celebration. Kindergarten students may come to school wearing their PJs. They may bring in 100 things. We will collect and showcase our groups of 100. Some examples I have seen other classes bring in would include: beans, stickers, pennies, crayons...etc. Students may come up with their own ideas on what to bring to class.
Valentine's Day
On Thursday afternoon, we will have our Valentine's Day celebration. Half day students may stay for the entire day. Dismissal will be at 2:45. Mrs. Forrest is planning a fun celebration filled with crafts and fun activities. If you would like a class list, please email me or you can find our class in the roster.
Museum of Nature and Science
The museum will come to our classroom tomorrow morning and teach us about Africa. We are looking forward to learning more about Africa.
Chain of Kindness Party
The students earned their first Chain of Kindness Party . The party will be on Friday. The students voted and we will have them bring their stuffed animals. We will have a "carnival" where the students can play games, do activities and get their faces painted. They are so excited for the party!
CCIRA
Last week I had the opportunity to go with the 1/2 team to the CCIRA conference at the tech center. The conference was by the International Reading Association. I met Marc Brown the author of the Arthur series. I attended several workshops that gave me great ideas for my classroom and literacy class. I bought some books for our classroom library, as well.
On Friday, February 22, I will attend the Beyond Giftedness conference in Arvada. Stargate is wonderful with giving teachers opportunities to continue our education to help our classrooms!
