What We Have Been Doing
Math
For Math we worked on graphing, and skip counting by twos. We are still measuring the class and observing how much they have grown. This week we will construct a class bridge made of pipe cleaners and straws. We will measure how long our bridge is using inches, feet, and kindergarten hands. We will also work on skip counting by 5s. The students will learn how to play a game called Top It; which is similar to the card game, War.
Theme
For Theme, we learned that there are many types of energy. We focussed on light energy. We will explore heat and sound energy during the next two weeks. We will learn about the Winter holidays throughout the month of December. We will read books and do activities centered around Kwanza and St. Nicholas this week.
The students will be asked to share their families customs and traditions on the winter holidays on the week of December 17. We would love to see how your family celebrates this special time.
Field Trip
We are going on a field trip on Friday this week. Since this is short notice, please fill out a permission slip as soon as possible and turn in in on Tuesday, December 4, to ensure your child can go on Friday.
Book Fair
Stop by the book fair this week. There are some great gift ideas for your family. You can find more information on the Library blog.
Warm Clothes
We still need an extra set of clothes for each child. If you sent clothes to school, please make sure that they are warm clothes. We have capris, shorts and short sleeve shirts, which won't work with the winter season.
Have a great week!
Feel free to email me or call me if you have any questions.
Thanks,
