Geometry:
Our week in geometry covers studying the properties of polygons. First, we focus on the properties of mid-segments in triangles and trapezoids. Then we will discover properties of parallelograms including rectangles, rhombuses and squares.
College Prep Algebra
This week in CPA we are studying ratios in Unit 5.
The primary learning objectives in this unit are to:
·         explore ratios from a numerical, geometric and algebraic perspective
·         Compare ratios of sides, perimeters and areas of plane figures
·         Explore percent as a ratio
·         Use equivalent ratios in relation to graphs of lines
·         Write and solve equations that involve ratios, including proportions.

During this week one focus will be on the geometric relation – similarity – in the case of triangles. Students will explore the ratios of corresponding sides of similar triangles and the ratios of a pair of sides of one triangle with the ratio of the pair of corresponding sides of a similar triangle.

Integrated Algebra
This week in Integrated Algebra we are solving equations and learning that there are more than one approach to this task. The equations contain an equal sign which is treated as a balance or scale. What is done to one side of a balance scale can be done to the other side and the equation will remain equal or balanced.   As chapter contains a lot of material, I will give the students time in class to begin the problems and homework.

Pre Algebra II
The week in Pre Algebra II we study chapter 5: Ratios, Measurement and Equivalent Fractions. The students will use ratio tables, fraction bars, and measurement with a ruler to understand equivalent fractions. Additionally they will change different denominators to common denominators using the Identity Property of Multiplication, compare fractions using equivalent fractions.
