Middle School Mathematics, Stafford, November 26 - 30
Geometry
This week in Geometry we will finish the study unit on triangle properties. We are studying the sum of the measure of interior and exterior angles of triangles, inequalities relationships among the sides and angles of triangles, and triangle congruence relationships. Additionally we study flow chart proofs to verify our triangle property conjectures.
College Prep Algebra
This week in College Prep Algebra we continue Chapter 4: Writing and Solving Equations. This unit’s primary goals are:
to solve linear equations and
to extend the use of Guess and Check tables to writing equations.
The students are applying their knowledge of the Distributive Property while solving equations and understand exponents as repeated multiplication.
Integrated Algebra
This week in Integrated Algebra we conclude Chapter 4, Algebraic Sentences. Our objectives are to
Write algebraic expressions and equations with variables
Develop an understanding of the Distributive Property
Evaluate algebraic expressions
Combine like terms
Review the order of operations by means of grouping terms.
I will assess the students over this chapter next week.
Pre Algebra II
This week in Pre Algebra II we finish Chapter 4: Area and Multiplication. This chapter develops ideas from a branch of mathematics called geometry. The literacy content and vocabulary is extensive. We are studying area and perimeter of polygons and using sub-problems to solve problems with irregular shapes. The students will take a test over this chapter and begin Chapter 5: Ratios, Measurement and Equivalent Fractions.
