Middle School Mathematics, Stafford, Dec 01 - 05

 

December already! Hello from Mr. Stafford’s math classroom!  Here’s a look into my classroom this week.

 

This week in Integrated Algebra we will conclude Unit 4: Algebraic Sentences. In this chapter we have solved word problems while getting a feel for writing algebraic expressions and equations. Further the mathematical concepts distributive property, order of operations and combine like terms have been explored and studied. I will assess the students later in the week.

 

This week in College Prep Algebra, we continue our study of ratios. We will use ratios to find perimeters and areas of similar figures and rate problems. We study proportions and ratios in right triangles.

 

This week in geometry we conclude our study of triangles and proving whether two triangles are congruent. We continue reasoning with flow chart proofs. There will be a test toward the weeks end on this chapter.

 

This week in Algebra II we conclude our chapter on quadratic equations and functions.   We will use quadratic equations to solve and model real world data and explore and use complex numbers in solving quadratic equations. I will test the students this week on this chapter. Next we begin studying polynomials.
