Middle School Mathematics, Stafford, Oct 13 - 17
Hello all! Here’s what we are doing in my classes this week:
Integrated Algebra
This week in Integrated Algebra we will conclude chapter 2 and test over this material. The test will include arithmetic operations with positive and negative integers, absolute value, order of operations, solving equations for unknown variables, evaluations, determining the algebraic rule given a table of values, linear equations, graphs and more. Additionally we will begin chapter 3 which focuses on probability and fractions.
College Prep Algebra
This week in College Prep Algebra we will work in unit 3. Here we have the opportunity to use patterns and organized data tables to draw graphs and solve problems, explore the xy-coordinate system and explore families of equations and there graphs. I will also demonstrate use and functions of the graphing calculator relating to graphs and functions.
Geometry:
This week in geometry we work with constructions, parts of a triangle, our conjecture list and points of congruency with a triangle. This is all in chapter 3. There will be a test at the end of the week. The primary constructions the students must know are: line segment bisector, angle bisector, perpendicular bisector, drop a perpendicular for a point to a line, create triangles given set up conditions, and create parallel lines. The parts for a triangle are the median, altitude, perpendicular bisector and angle bisector. We should be very busy.
Algebra II
This week in Algebra II we begin chapter 4 in which we will use matrices to organize data to manipulate matrices through algebra. We will represent real world relationships by writing matrices and using operations (addition, multiplication) to develop new matrices.
