Middle School Mathematics, Stafford, Mar 17 - 21
Hello, and welcome to our second week of CSAP and the week prior to spring break.
Geometry:
This week in Geometry I will assess the students over concepts relating to the Pythagorean Theorem. Next we will study volume, discover formulas for finding the volume of prisms, pyramids, cylinders, cones and spheres. The surface of spheres will be introduced as well as density concepts.
College Prep Algebra
This week in College Prep Algebra we will conclude unit 8, Factoring Quadratics. I will assess the students on this and prior concepts after spring break. Our next unit will emphasize using diagrams to write equations. We will use the Pythagorean theorem in this unit because it provides a natural way to generate problems involving quadratic equations.
Integrated Algebra
This week in Integrated Algebra, we continue our study of the Pythagorean theorem, surface area and volume. Our learning objectives are to assemble geometric nets (or 2-dim representations of 3 dim objects) and calculate the surface area of prisms, write and apply the formula for finding the volume of a cylinder, and calculate the surface area of cylinders.
Pre Algebra II
This week in Pre Algebra II we continue our study of geometry, (commutative, associative and distributive) properties, and equations. We are studying the angles in triangles and quadrilaterals, solving problems about angles in these geometric figures and solving problems by using the commutative, associative and distributive properties.
