Geometry:
This week in Geometry we will pursue a project researching the history of mathematics. The students are encouraged to research topics in geometry or algebra but are not limited to these topics. Some students will pursue contributions made by women in these fields. Additionally, the students will further their geometric proof skills dealing with relationships with polygons and circles.
College Prep Algebra
This week in College Prep Algebra we continue Unit 6: Graphing and Systems of Linear Equations. Our learning objectives this week are solving application problems using linear systems, multiplying binomials and factoring binomial squares. Throughout this unit we emphasize the relationship between the graphical and algebraic methods of solving systems of equations. The unit test will be next week.
Integrated Algebra
This week in Integrated Algebra, we continue Chapter 6: Ratios and Proportions. This week we focus on writing and solving proportions for the following applications: finding the perimeter and area of similar figures, finding the missing sides of similar figures and finding the sides, perimeters, and areas of similar triangles. Additionally we practice mental mathematics during our classes.
Pre Algebra II
The week in Pre Algebra II we continue chapter 6: Ratio and Proportion. This week our focus is on calculating the missing dimensions of similar figures and using proportions to compare scale models. Additionally we practice mental mathematics during our classes.
