This week in Integrated Algebra first we will review last weeks quiz covering word problems, integer operations and graphs in the coordinate plane. This week we focus on one, understanding subtraction of integers as addition of the opposite and two, understanding multiplication as repeated addition.

Middle School Mathematics, Stafford, Sept 22 - 26

 

Hello to all students and families. You will have a substitute teacher on Friday as the Colorado Council of Mathematics Teachers conference is scheduled this day. I will bring back new ideas and strategies to our classroom.

 

This week we conclude the chapter introducing the basic relationships of plane geometry. The class has a test on Friday over chapter two. We will begin chapter three where we discover basic geometric constructions.

Middle School Mathematics, Stafford, Sept 15 - 19

 

Hello to everyone. Remember, students have Friday September 19 off as this is a teacher work day.

As we continue our introduction to plane geometry the students are taking in a large amount of vocabulary. This week in Geometry we define and classify polygons with a emphasis triangles and quadrilaterals. In addition the students work to visualize objects and relationships in the second and third dimensions.

Welcome to the wonderful world of plane geometry. This week in Geometry chapter two introduces the students to the terms and symbols of plane geometry such as point, line, plane, segment, ray, angle, and collinear and coplanar points. This chapter presents an abundance of terms and symbols. In addition, the student will be assessed on their understanding of chapter one.

Hello to all families and students and may you enjoy a happy September. We are really in school and establishing routines. Please promote good routines with your student such as a quiet location for homework the same time each afternoon or evening.

This week in Geometry we will conclude chapter one where we studied number patterns and used inductive reasoning to determine the nth term. I will test the students on the material as well as begin chapter two in which the basic relationships of plane geometry are presented.

I send greetings to all families and students. My math classes begin with a review of many concepts. New material and challenges will arrive shortly. Presently we are deepening our understanding and confidence of prior concepts and refining the skills that will be used to advance our learning throughout the school year.
