Geometry
I look forward to seeing everyone during conferences.
This week in Geometry we continue chapter three, where the focus is teaching and using to tools of geometry: a compass and a straight edge. We will learn to construct parallel lines and construct various geometric figures to reinforce our learning and understanding up to this point in the curriculum.
College Prep Algebra
I look forward to seeing everyone during conferences.
This week in College Prep Algebra we review the unit two test and begin the next unit. Our objectives include graphing linear and quadratic equations and to estimate the intercepts of these equations. In this study unit, the class will use the xy-coordinate system extensively.

Geometry
This week in Geometry the students create geometric constructions. The students perform geometric investigations and make conjectures based on those investigations. Using only a compass and straightedge, the students discover basic constructions including how to duplicate segments and angles, how to construct perpendicular bisectors, perpendiculars, angles bisectors, and parallel lines.
College Prep Algebra
This week in College Prep Algebra we finish unit two and will test at the end of the week. I will give the students a homework packet this week which is due on Thursday Oct 4th which will serve to review the learning concepts. This unit our primary objectives are to break larger problems into smaller more manageable parts, rev ...

Geometry
This week in Geometry we conclude chapter two and I will assess the students’ understanding on Friday. This chapter serves as an introduction to Geometry and is rich in vocabulary and definitions. In the next chapter we create geometric constructions using a compass and a straight edge.
College Prep Algebra
This week in College Prep Algebra we continue unit two: area and sub-problems. The major learning objectives include understanding the concept of area, (not just memorization of formula), breaking larger problems into more manageable parts, as well as focusing on Order of Operations and the Distributive Property.

Geometry
This week in Geometry we are in the middle of chapter two. This chapter is an introduction to geometry and is rich in vocabulary and definitions. We range from lines, points and planes to angles, polygons, triangles and quadrilaterals. We still use inductive reasoning to look for patterns as we seek definitions for the geometric figures. Additionally the students have been exercising their order of operation skills by participating in “Bowling”: a dice game.

Geometry
This week in Geometry we continue to use inductive reasoning to find terms in a sequence. We will shift from finding the next term to finding any term (the nth term) in the sequence. Our focus includes the sequence of number patterns, figurative number patterns and to finding patterns in geometric shapes.
College Prep Algebra
This week in College Prep Algebra we continue to deepen our understanding of integer addition and subtraction using tiles as a numerical manipulative. Additionally we work to interpret graphs, geometric areas, scientific notation and multiplication and division computations of integers.
