Take a look at what is going on in our classroom

Welcome back everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful and restful vacation, and are ready to get back into the swing of things.  This week we will be learning about the first unification of India, under the leader King Ashoka and the Mauryan Empire.  We will then being learning about the Gupta Empire to end our study of India.  This will take us to the January conferences, and we will then study China.  The next map quiz will be Friday, January 23rd, and it will be over Pacifica and other parts of Asia.  Students will get their first study guide on Tuesday.

There will be a change in the grading procedure for the class as well after conferences.  I will no longer be giving partial credit for work that is turned in with no name.  This work will instead earn the student a "0".  If they wish to earn credit for it, they will be able to do so on make up days, when all work is graded out of a 50 rather than a 100.  It is thus in their best interests to put their names on their work!

Homework:

Hello everyone,

It's good to be back at Stargate!  I hope everyone had an amazing time at Cheley, I know I did!  I will never forget the rainstorm and Walter the Farting Dog.  Thanks to all of you for making my first experience there an awesome one!  This blog is going up a day late because I wasn't here on Monday, so hopefully everyone is able to catch up.

We will be having our test on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.  Wednesday we will do the multiple choice questions for all 6 chapters (40 questions, one point each) and then Thursday will be the remaining 60 points in vocabulary and short answer questions.  Remember, the study guide and extra credit crossword are due when you come into class on Wednesday.  Good luck everyone!

Starting next week, we will be studying Egypt.  We will be picking an artifact to study in depth, either through a building project or through writing a research paper.  Please start to think about materials if you will be building, and there will be assignment...

Is everyone ready for another short week?  We will have normal classes Monday and Tuesday and then we head off to Cheley!  As you check powerschool this week, please note that I am accepting late work from this unit until the day of the test, at which point everything that is not in will revert to a zero.  Your child will recieve partial credit for that late work, but it is better than no points at all!

Test information: Chapters 1-6 will be tested on Wednesday, October 15 and Thursday October 16.  Wednesday will be the multiple choice questions and the vocab and short answer will be Thursday.  Study hard!

Homework:

Monday: Finish reading chapter six and doing the preview and reading notes for the chapter.  You do not need to do the processing page yet.

Tuesday: You now have your study guide for the test.  Remember, you will need to show me that you studied in some way.  The easiest way to do this is to write the information from the study guide somewhere so you can hand it in.  The...
