Monday 2/25 - Students will present their Acrostic Poems in small groups and discuss topics from the 1920s.
Tuesday 2/26 - Students will complete Chapter 29 and debate 3 topics from the chapter that show how society was divided in the 1920s.
Wednesday - 2/27
WAC students have their final performance for the end of 2nd Trimester.
Thursday 2/28 - Students will complete 1920s debates.
Friday 2/29 - Students will work on Current Events, grade for 2nd Trimester are closed.
There is no homework for this week. Have a great week.

2/18 Monday - No School President's Day
2/19 Tuesday - Student's are working on a project for African American History month about the Harlem Renaissance. They are analyzing the themes in literature, music, and art from African American artists during the 1920s Harlem Renaissance.

Below is a quick look at the next two weeks in Social Studies!
2/11 Monday - Students were given time to review the WWI Test results. Expect scores for the Test and the WWI Essay to post by the end of the day President's Day!
2/12 Tuesday - We started the Unit on the Roaring 20s. Students will examine the question, "To what extent were the 1920s truly "roaring"? There will be no multiple choice test for this unit. Students will be given 3 creative assignments to show their learning of this essential question. The first assignment was given in class today and is due next Thursday. 2/4 - Monday Students will debrief the Treaty of Versailles debate from last week and discuss what the post-WWI world was like. The class will read an article titled, "How the Middle East Got This Way," focusing on the redrawing of the map of the Middle East after WWI and the fall of the Ottaman Empire. This debrief and article review will complete our study of WWI and students will be assigned a Test Review for the Exam this Friday.

Monday 1/28, Tuesday 1/29 and Thursday 1/31 Students are debating, "Should the United States have ratiffied or rejected the Treaty of Versailles?" Students are split into 4 groups and have to argue from the position of ratification, rejection, or modification of the treaty. The group assigned as Senators will oversee the debate. This activity will be done in class and there is no homework for the week.

Thank you for taking time out to conference with the 7/8 Team last week. This week is a short week and students will be working on World War I.
Tuesday 1/22 - World War I essay due. Students have until 8AM tomorrow to get any electronic versions of their essay to my mail box. In class today students took video lecture notes on WWI to gain more content knowledge on this time period.
Wednesday 1/23 - This week starts a new round of workshops. The workshop for Social Studies will be team taught with a graduate student in history from the C.U. Boulder. The lesson will be on Manga and Japanese Literature. Students will look at the history of cartooning in Japan which dates back to the 12th century. ...

Students can pick any topic pertaining to WWI. I have provided them with a list of topics and a website for WWI research. See the attached doucment and website links on my blog that can help with this paper. I've attached a website that helps students with MLA formatting for the citation/bibliography page. All requirements for this assignment are detailed in the attached document. Good Luck

Hello Stargate Community,
This week will be a short week due to conferences. Monday 1/21 is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Denver has a really great parade at 8:30AM starting at City Park. In addition, there are many different service projects going on around the state due to the fact that this is a national service day. Thank you for all of the great holiday gifts! I hope you had a relaxing break and are ready to start school Monday:) There is new carpet in the 7/8 classrooms and the Middle School wing is really coming together. I look forward to seeing all of the students on Monday!

- Students will take a 35 minute written assessment on American Ideals and the suffragist movement.
