LANGUAGE ARTS: As a reminder, I have moved the vocabulary test to February 27th. This should help relieve some of the pressure for the students and allow them to do their best work on all upcoming assignments. We will make study cards in class this week. The quiz will be matching, covering the 50 words we have studied so far this year. Students will have time to work on the trimester research report in class this week. Be sure to check my calendar for due dates. The rough draft was due today (Tuesday). Several students did not have their rough draft in class and were unable to participate in peer editing today. These students are missing out on valuable feedback not only from me, but also from their peers. Please check in with your student and ask to see his/her rough draft. The typed copy is due Monday the 25th. Extra credit is available for those who turn it in on Friday the 22nd. All aspects of the project (note cards, bib cards, rough drafts, and final drafts of the bibliography and report) should be turned in on the due date.
MATH: Students are working with partners to solve a "Bike Trip" problem. Students will be presenting their solutions during the latter part of this week. There will be homework on practice problems from the book a couple of days this week.
THEME: We will begin our quilting project on Wednesday. Students will also have some in-class time to work on typing their trimester research reports. Note that this is a collaborative effort between Language Arts and Theme teachers. Students will earn a content-based grade from their Theme teacher, and a writing mechanics grade from their Language Arts teacher. Please spend some time reviewing the progress of your student to ensure that he/she is on track. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions! Thank you to Mrs. Tufford and Mrs. Johnson, who stepped in to handle the Valentine's Day party for me last week. I became quite ill with the flu and relied on them for their excellent assistance during the party. I appreciated all of the cute notes and treats. Thank you!
