What's happening this week?

By Marcella Embry on 10/6/2008

This week we will continue looking at forces that shape rocks and will begin discussing biomes and how the climate there effects the development of animal and plant life. We will be focusing on the arctic tundra and tiaga biomes over the next few weeks. *Keystone – We could use one more chaperone for our Keystone trip Oct. 29-31, especially a male chaperone (so Ms. Embry doesn’t have to sleep in the boys’ dorm). Our previous volunteer has a scheduling issue and may not be able to join us.

**Thank you to all the parents who chaperoned (and offered to) our field trip to Roxborough. Without your participation, we would not be able to take field trips, so again, we thank you.

This week we will be looking at the different types of volcanoes and plotting the ring of fire on the world map. We will discuss how rocks are formed and how they are broken down and recycled into new rock.

This week we will finish up our study of early earth history (planet age, earth layers, plate tectonics) with a quiz on Thursday. Students should re-read their material (paying special attention to the words in bold) and answers to the questions in our packets.
