Time is flying by! This week we’ll create a study guide for a formal assessment on rocks, minerals, and fossils. This quiz will take place on Wednesday, October 8th. We’ll also (hopefully!) get to play around with plate tectonics and finally plant a potato farm.

Theme Update

Today we started moving our desks around to make a border around our town.   We made our coordinate grids and streets.   We then put in our houses that we made in class.   This week we will be talking about what are the different jobs in a community.   Don't forget the town buildings are due next Monday, the 6th.   Students are welcome to bring them in early if they want : )

We have been studying UFOs from many angles:  Area 51, reports from astronauts and airline pilots, and eye witness accounts.  At this time, about 2/3 of the class feel that there is probably intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, but only a very few feel that the earth has been visited by extraterrestrials.  The students have been divided into random teams and on Wednesday we will be debating this issue.  I think this will be very interesting, especially since students are not necessarily arguing on the side in which they believe!

We have been watching "North by Northwest" with Cary Grant.  We should finish it up on Tuesday.
