Students are invited to bring their costumes to school tomorrow.  Please remember that no masks, weapons, hair dye, or any object that could be used as a weapon are allowed.  Students can put makeup on at school as long as it is part of their costume.  Our party will begin at 12:30.  Remember too that tomorrow is Wednesday and dismissal is at 1:30.

We are still waiting for KSS forms to be turned in for some students.  The KSS medical form AND the district medical form MUST be signed and turned in even if your child does not need to take any medicine.  Please have all forms in to school by Monday October, 29.  To reduce confusion, 5 things need to be turned in before we leave for KSS.  They are:  permission slip, KSS medical form, KSS release form, Adams 12 medical form and a check for payment.  All 5 documents must be turned in by Monday October 29 or your student will not be allowed to go to KSS.

We will be having pizza at our Halloween party next Wednesday.  Our party will be held from 12:30-1:30.  Parents will be contacted to make a donation of something sweet, paper goods and anything else that will be needed.  Please send in $2.00 with your student by Monday, Oct. 29 to cover the cost of the pizza.  I will pre-order pizza on Tuesday to ensure delivery in time for our party on Wednesday.

There is still time to send your gift card donation to school with your student.  Please try to have all donations sent to school no later than Friday, October 26.  Thank you for all you do to support Stargate School.  The teachers and students really do appreciate it!

Mrs. Episkopos, our school nurse, has asked that I remind you that all medical forms for KSS are due to school on Monday, October 22.  This is so she has adequate time to get everything logged for the 6 classes going and organize medicines and first aid kits for 6 classes as well.  Even over the counter medicines need to have a form signed by a doctor so teachers can administer that medicine while on the field trip.  She has also asked that you follow up with  her on any form that you ask your doctor to fax to the school.  Sometimes it is assumed that the school receives it and it never shows up.  A quick phone call or email to Mrs. Epsikopos is the best way to see that your child has the proper medical documentation for the trip.  The medical form can be found in several places.  It is posted to my blog page, the 5/6 team page and on the Stargate web site under the Parents Place heading.  They can be downloaded form any ... We have been discussing the first trimester project in class the past few days and the students have a pretty good idea of what the expectations are.  My class will be able to research anything on matter, the French and Indian 'War or the American Revolution.  A letter to parents and a timeline with project deadlines will come home in Monday folders next week.  A list of possible products for presentation will follow later in the week.

If you haven't already done so, please send your gift card donations for our class basket in to school by Friday, Oct. 19.  Thank you to all those who have already sent in theirs.  We should have a pretty amazing basket to raise funds for Stargate School.

Parents please consider taking advantage of attending the first ever Stargate Founders Conference.  You will be able to attend classes directly relating to your gifted child.  Offerings will include Social and Emotional needs of Gifted Children, Parenting your Gifted Child, reading strategies, Leadership, and many more.  Nancy Hall, founding principal of Stargate School will be here for the conference and leading some of the breakout sessions.  This conference should be a wealth of information and we are fortunate to be holding it right here on our campus.  Registration can be found on line on the Stargate web site, click the Parents heading and then Stargate Founders Conference.  Cost of the conference includes lunch.

Confirmation slips for conference times are in today's Monday folders for parent-teacher conferences.  We did our best to accommodate everyone's request.  However, please keep in mind that we have a total of 144 students to schedule and first coices were not always available.  If the time assigned will not work, please let your child's homeroom teacher know immediately.  At this poing we will try our best to fine a time that works but cannot guarantee availability.

I still need one more volunteer to go with us to KSS.  If you can commit to the 3 days please let me know as soon as possible.  A packet of information about KSS will be coming home in Monday folders on October 8th.
