Thank you to everyone who attended Curriculum Night. I hope we were able to answer all questions brought to us that night. You were given a lot of information as we have planned for a very busy school year this year. I will be attending the Colorado Association of Gifted and Talented conference this week. It is Monday and Tuesday and I am anticipating coming back to school with all sorts of useful ideas. Dr. Joseph Renzulli, a renowned professor of gifted education from the University of Connecticut is the keynote speaker for the conference. I am looking forward to listening and learning from him.
I will be giving a quiz on matter in my Theme class this Friday. Please encourage your student to study a little bit every night instead of cramming on Thursday night. Information on my math and lit classes can be f ...

Monday is the start of the official pupil count for the 2007 - 08 school year. It is especially important that your child be in class every day from Sept 24 through Oct 8. Of course, attendance at school is always important and maximizes your child's education. The amount of funding we receive from the state is determined by the number of students in attendance every day during this period. Please try not to schedule appointments or vacations during this time. Questions about district and Stargate attendance policy can be answered by reading pages 15 and 16 of the Community Handbook.
I look forward to seeing everyone at Curriculum Night on Monday. It will be an evening jam packed full of important information. We will cover curriculum in all of our classes and go over many other important items. ...

Switching classes went very smoothly this week. We are well underway to a very busy school year. This blog is full of important information mostly for my homeroom students.
First off, I want to inform you that my class will be going to Keystone Science School November 5, 6, and 7. We will be going with Ms. Ball's class. The cost is roughly $150-$200. This includes food, lodging, transportation and the incredible educational program that KSS puts on for us. It is a very valuable experience and the kids always enjoy it. If funding (either all or part) is an issue, please let me know as soon as possible and I will get to you the forms necessary to apply for a scholarship. If you have any questions please feel free to email me. We will also have more information at Curriculum night.

The second week of school is behind us and we are ready to get down to business on Monday. We will be reviewing some map skills and discussing the states of matter. Class assignments will be given out by Tuesday and we will start switching classes on Wednesday. The students are very excited for this to happen.
Please remember to send (or have your child pack) a healthy snack for the afternoons. We eat lunch before 11 am so by about 1:30 the kids seem to be really hungry again.
I have been posting homework assignments on my web calendar for parents to see. It can be accessed by going to calendars and opening the one that says Falace 5/6. Right now I have been posting everything under the title Theme. When we start switching classes, my Lit class will have assignments l ...
