Wow! Another week is over. I hope everybody had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Curriculum Night is coming up this Wednesday, September 10th. There will be a Powerschool and Stargate website tutorial in the Multi-Purpose Room from 6:30pm-7:00 pm. Beginning at 7:00pm, you will have the opportunity to meet with your kiddo’s homeroom, literacy and math teacher. The sessions will run in half hour increments with Curriculum Night ending at 8:30 pm. Due to the time constraints, it will not be possible to speak about individual students, however, that opportunity is just around the corner with Fall Conferences at the beginning of October!

Permission slips for Dinosaur Ridge were due on Friday, 9/5. We are going to Dinosaur Ridge on Thursday, September 18th, from 9:00-1:30. Please send a sack lunch with your kiddo on that day!

Due to a couple of medical conditions this year, please let me know what you are sending in for a birthday treat. I only need to know the day before. Thank you so much for your help!!!

Picture day is coming on Friday, September 12th! Smile pretty and look your best!!!

Our first homework assignment in Theme went home on Friday, 9/5. The artifact assignment is due on Wednesday, 9/10. Please see handout for requirements!

Upcoming happenings:

  • Continue our study of Water: Phase changes; water cycle (cont.), types of collection (snowpack, aquifer, reservoir, etc)
  • Continue our study of Colorado History: Colorado landforms; Colorado symbols
  • Continue studying/reviewing cursive
  • Sharing our artifacts on Wednesday, 9/10
  • Water homework coming home on Monday, 9/8 and due on Friday, 9/12

Highlights from the past week:

  • Predicted the amount of water on Earth. Found actual amounts and compared them to our predictions. Illustrated findings in different ways
  • Took notes on the six sources of water and the water cycle
  • Teacher Demo: the water cycle
  • Experiment: we all created our own water cycle on hung them on the window. We are in the process of documenting the cycle as it occurs in our plastic bags
  • Brendan and Alexander both brought in excellent fossils for us to observe
  • Watched the video Explore Colorado and illustrated the part that stood out in our mind the most
  • Continued working in our My Colorado workbooks: Where do we live? Where have we been in Colorado? Where do we want to visit?
  • Assigned Artifact homework due on Wed. 9/10
