Homeroom:
The State Fair is here! The State Fair will be held on Monday, May 24 and Tuesday, May 25. Parents are welcome to visit the State Fair on Tuesday from 8:30 – 10:00 am.
Field Day: Field day will be held on Wednesday, May 26. Our theme this year is the World Cup; we are having a day full of soccer and other sports. Students are encouraged to wear soccer jerseys and gear as well as any professional sports attire (i.e. Nuggets, Avs, Rockies.) Sack lunch is required on this day; the kitchen will be closed. We will have jumpers to play in again this year. Students, teachers and parents can play on these! In addition to a lunch, your child will need a water bottle, hat, and sunscreen. Parents are encouraged to come and help with the day. Please let me know if you’d like to volunteer to float around on the day and help to run the stations.
End of Year Party:Our end of year party will take place on Thursday, May 27 from 9:30-11:30 am. Please email me if you would like to help out; I must submit a list of volunteers to the front office asap.

Thank you parent chaperones for helping out with our field trip to the Denver Mint and Art Museum.
Special Awards Assembly: Friday's schedule will include a special awards assembly. We will be on a Wednesday schedule, with the assembly scheduled to start at 1pm. At the conclusion of the assembly, students will be dismissed to their homerooms. Those who pre-ordered yearbooks will receive their yearbooks and we will have a signing session. Autograph books will be provided for those students who did not order yearbooks. A limited number of yearbooks will be available for sale for $45, along with colored Sharpies for sale.

NE States: This week we will continue our study of the Northeast states. A geography test will conclude the unit on May 21. Students will need to be able to match the names of the capitals to their states, and locate each state on the map. A pretest was sent home to use as a study guide.
Science: In science we are continuing our journey through space. Students will finish making a scale of the solar system to help them comprehend the sizes and distances of the planets.

Rocket Lab: May 10 the Denver Museum of Nature and Science will be here to conduct a rocket lab for our 3-4 students. Students will get the opportunity to create a rocket and launch it.
Field Trip: May 13th to the Denver Mint and Denver Art Museum. Please be sure to pack your child a sack lunch.
Canned Food Drive – Canned food drive for Broomfield FISH; bring in a canned food & get a Popsicle

NE States: This week we will continue our study of the Northeast states. A geography test will conclude the unit on May 21. Students will need to be able to match the names of the capitals to their states, and locate each state on the map. A pretest was sent home to use as a study guide.

Our Sweet Shop supplies are desperately low. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Some items that the students like to earn are fun sized candy, hot chocolate packets, small flavor packets to add to a water bottle, or cool supplies such as fun erasers, mechanical pencils, or anything.
No school: May 7th. Teacher Work Day.

Last week you should have found a fundraiser sheet in your child’s Monday Folder. The school is selling Rockies tickets for the Sunday, May 16th game. $5 from each ticket will be donated back to the school. Order forms need to be returned by April 26th.

Ms. Singer has over seven years of teaching experience and has been a teacher at Stargate since 2007. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and a license in Elementary Education. During college, she worked at a preschool teaching pre-k. After graduating, she received her first teaching job; teaching fifth grade at a private school for gifted children in the Bay Area. Ms. Singer successfully ran a private tutoring business working with children ages four & up. Ms. Singer moved to Colorado in 2001. She is involved with Mothers & More, a network for sequencing women, MOPS – Mothers of preschoolers, The Broomfield Newcomers Club, and is an active runner and triathlete. Her teaching experiences in Colorado include working at a Core Knowledge Charter School as well as teaching at the Colorado Virtual Academy. This will be her third year teaching at Stargate.
