This week in theme we…
- took our middle south states test.
-learned about our Constitution, three branches of government, and specifically the judicial system.
-listened to Mr. Warga as he shared his experiences as an engineer on the James Webb telescope. We also got to work with a laser and mirror which simulated how a high power telescopes work.
Parents are invited to our State Fair tomorrow from 8:30 – 10:00 and 10:30 – 11:30. (The students do not need to bring in food samples.)
Field day is Wednesday, May 26th. I encourage hats, sunscreen, and a labeled water bottle.
We’ll be having our class party on Thursday from 10:30 – 11:20.
A special thanks to Mrs. Haney, our party organizer, Mrs. Anupindi, and Mrs. Womer for putting together our end of year party. (It’s an 11:30 dismissal that day.)
May 10 - 14
This week in theme we…
- learned about the capital, history, and geographical features of Louisiana.
-conducted an experiment in which we counted the number of spins of a washer attached to yarn at various lengths.
-learned how rockets fly from a guest speaker from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Then we build our own rockets and launched them off an air compressor.
-toured the Denver Mint and the Denver Art Museum.
We have our states test this Wednesday. There’s a middle south states study guide on the “documents” section of my homepage.
Mr. Warga, Simon’s dad, will be here on Thursday to share his experiences working on the James Webb telescope.
The State Fair project is due on May 24th. They should bring in their project and food that day. Parents are invited to our State Fair on Tuesday, May 25th.
Field day is Wednesday, May 26th.
On Thursday, May 27th we have an early dismissal for summer. We’ll be having our class party from 10:30 – 11:20.

This week in theme we…
- learned about the capital, history, and geographical features of Arkansas. (Our states test is on May 18th.)
-studied the distances the planets are from the sun. Then we created diagrams in which we converted the distances to inches and drew them on a diagram of the solar system.
This week in theme we’ll be learning about Louisiana and New Mexico. We’re also continuing our study of space.
A representative from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science will be here tomorrow to teach us about rockets.
Our last field trip is to the Denver Mint/Art Museum this Thursday. Please send in a sack lunch with your child and dress for the weather.

This week in theme we…
- learned about the capital, history, and geographical features of Oklahoma.
-studied the celestial features within our universe such as nebulas, comets, meteors, star clusters and more.
This week in theme we’ll be learning about Arkansas. We’ll also be calculating the distance of the planets from the sun in inches. Then we’ll create a diagram of our solar system using those calculations.
Book orders went home today. They are due back Thursday.
There is no school this Friday due to a teacher in-service.
Our last field trip is to the Denver Mint/Art Museum on Thursday, May 13th.
The State Fair project is due on May 24th.
