September 2 – 5
The students started literacy and math classes this week. The teachers will continue to assess, observe, and discuss their progress and move them if need be.
We’ll be presenting our homeroom, literacy, and math curriculum at “Back to School” night this Wednesday. It starts at 6:30 pm in the gym. We’ll be going over the features of Power School. Then at 7:00 pm you may visit your child’s homeroom, literacy, and math teachers. Our presentations will be done by 8:30 pm. (Your child will bring home a list of their teachers so you’ll know where to go.)
Other reminders: Individual school pictures are this Friday. Field trip forms for Dinosaur Ridge are due this week also. (The field trip is September 18th.) Book orders are due on Tuesday, September 16th.
In science, we learned about the properties of a water molecule including the particles, and atoms. Then we made a model of water. Also, we recorded our results of the mini water experiment that we started last week.
In social studies, we read about the characteristics that represent our state such as the big horn sheep and the columbine flower. We also reviewed the landforms that make Colorado unique. We’ll be studying landforms more in depth on our field trip to Dinosaur Ridge next week.
