I will not be at school on Monday or Tuesday. I will be attending the Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented Conference.
We will be going to the Broomfield Water Treatment Plant on Thursday. Please have your child bring a sack lunch. This will only be a two hour field trip so the rest of the day will be spent doing an experiment on water filtration and other water experiments.
TEST: A study guide for the first chapter on Colorado history was sent home last Monday. If you have misplaced it, you can get it on my blog on the Stargate website under my documents. THE TEST WILL BE ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17TH.
What we did last week in theme:
- We read about the water cycle and how water gets to the water treatment plant and how it is cleaned. The students wanted to do a project on this so they had the choice to work with a group or alone to show me what they learned about his process. They came up with some amazing final projects – posters, cartoons, stories.
Upcoming:
- Ch. 2 of the Colorado history book – archaeology and ancient Coloradans
- Learn about the principle of water: cohesion, adhesion, surface tension, and capillary action and do some experiments related to these (we didn’t get to this last week)
- Paint our 3-d maps of Colorado (we didn’t get to this last week)
IMPORTANT DATES:
- Field trip to the water treatment plant – Thursday, Oct. 16th
- Test on Colorado – Friday, October 17th
