Today we went to the Book Fair Blizzard, and the kids had a great time purchasing things and creating wish lists. I want to thank those of you who donated a book to our classroom library. We have enjoyed reading them! As you know, in theme we are studying Earth, Moon and Sun. Today we were able to create a scaled model of the sun, Earth and moon. The students were surprised to see how large the sun actually is, and we talked about why it appears so small in the sky. Next Thursday the 1/2 classes will begin a holiday unit which will be finished before break. Each teacher will be teaching something different, and the classes will rotate to every teacher by Thursday, December 20th. For my lesson I am in need of volunteers who would like to cut out poinsettia petals. I will be teaching this lesson to about 150 students, so I need a lot of petals! Please let me know if you would like to help. This is something you could take home and do in front of your favorite sitcom (my strategy)! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the holiday spirit!
