This week in theme we will finish up our magnet unit. The students will be taking the test on Friday, so please look for the study guide in your child’s Weekly Folder. We will finish creating different magnets using iron and steel objects as well as exploring which objects cannot become magnets. The students will also use a scientific journal to write about what they’ve learned. Next week we will begin Earth Science!

I would like to thank all of the volunteers who accompanied the class to Seussical. Your help is valued, and the kids had a great time!

Please note that we do not have school on Tuesday. Show your appreciation to a veteran, and have a great week!

Scholastic book orders were due this Friday, November 7th. They may have been stamped December 7th by mistake. Late orders will be accepted on Monday, November 10th. Sorry for the confusion!

This week in theme we will continue to experiment with and learn about magnets. We will be extracting the iron from breakfast cereal as well as creating our own magnets. The students will also be designing their own magnetic experiments using the scientific method.

On Monday during theme time we will be reading Dr. Seuss stories and creating hats in preparation for our field trip this Tuesday. We will be going to the Arvada Center to watch Seussical! Please make sure to send a sack lunch with your child as well as a coat. We will be having lunch outside!

This week in theme we will be doing some exciting experiments with magnets. The students will practice using the scientific method, test the strength of different magnets, and explore polar opposites.

This Friday is Halloween! There will be a school parade at 8:15 which should last about 30 minutes. If you would like to come watch, please check in at the front office. Your children may wear their costumes to school this year, but please don’t send them with weapons. Masks may be worn in the parade and during the party, but must be taken off for the remainder of the day.

Next Tuesday, November 4th we will be going to the Arvada Center to watch Seussical! This musical extravaganza includes classic Dr. Seuss stories such as Horton Hears a Who and The Cat in the Hat. Please look for a permission slip in your child’s Weekly Folder. It is due back on Thursday, October 30th!

I would like to thank everyone who helped with our field trip. Without its amazing parent volunteers, Stargate would not be the great school that it is. We can do so much more because of your help!

Last week in theme we began our unit on magnets; however, due to Junior Achievement, the fun corn activity, and our field trip, we were not able to accomplish everything that was planned. This week we will make up for lost time by learning more about magnets, reading about scientists who’ve studied them, and experimenting with magnets in the classroom.

Right now we have a group of parent volunteers working on our Halloween celebration! You will all be invited to watch the school parade, but only volunteers can stay for the party. I will let you know the parade time as soon as I find out.

This Monday Paul Jerez will be presenting to us on behalf of Junior Achievement. He will be facilitating five activities in our classroom in order to enrich our study of communities!

Last week in theme we began our unit on magnets. The students took a pretest on Tuesday which will serve as a good study guide, so please look for this in his or her Weekly Folder. This week we will discover different objects that are attracted to magnets. We will learn what a magnet is as well as magnetic vocabulary!

Our Fritzler Maze field trip is this Thursday! Please remember to send a sack lunch with your child on that day. Also, Mrs. Siefken will be coming to give a presentation to us about corn before our trip! A lady from the Colorado Farm Bureau will be accompanying her.

This year the students are allowed to wear their costumes to school on Halloween! On Friday, October 31st we will be on a Wednesday schedule in order to have our class party from 1: ...

It was great getting to visit with all of you at conferences. It is so nice to work with supportive parents who want to be involved!

Next week we will be taking a field trip to the Fritzler Maze! Please make sure that you sign and return a permission slip, so your child may attend. They will be going home in this week’s Weekly Folders.

This week in theme we will finish up our unit on communities. The students will finish their election books on Monday. We will also be filling out our voter registration cards and voting on a town mayor. On Tuesday the children will take a post test. Wednesday is Create a Character, and on Thursday we will begin our next unit… Magnets!

This week we will be learning about different producers and consumers in a community as well as the difference between products and services. Last week the children made houses and formed neighborhoods, and this week we will be creating a town using our town buildings. We will also be learning about the election process and voting on a town mayor.

Parent/Teacher Conferences begin this Wednesday. Please look for your conference day and time in your child’s Weekly Folder. The students will be dismissed at 11:30, and there will be no school for students on Thursday or Friday. I look forward to visiting with all of you soon!

It was so nice to see most of you on Curriculum Night. Hopefully you all gleaned insight into what your child’s time at Stargate looks like. Thank you all for being so friendly and supportive… and for having such great kids!

This week in theme we will continue focusing on communities. The students will learn the relationship between the home, town, state, country and continent in which they live. We will also learn the importance of our homes.

This year we will be doing Wednesday Workshop during theme time on Wednesday. The students will be doing character education, and we will begin creating characters of our own. This will be a fun creative outlet for gifted students!
