What is going on in theme (homeroom) this week?
The students that have decided to run for mayor will be doing their speeches today. The students will be “registering to vote” and then will be “going to the poll” to elect their mayor. The outcome of who becomes mayor is irrelevant. The purpose of this lesson is so that the students know the role of poiticians and can see how an election works.
Wednesday workshop will be done on Thursday this week (I know, it’s an oxy-moron)! The students will be doing an ongoing project where they will be creating a character. As the year progresses, they’ll be adding embellishments to their character, such as a birth certificate, passport, wallet/purse items, clothes, writing a letter, etc. It is going to be a fun, creative and hands-on activity

What is going on in theme (homeroom) this week?
This week Miss Russo will be taking over theme! The students will be doing activities, read alouds, and a project to help them understand the different types of communities; such as home, town, state, country and continent.
In the next couple of weeks, we will be making our own town. Each student will be in charge of making a building from a shoebox. We will then use these buildings to put together our own small town in the classroom. It is very important that the building in no bigger than a shoebox, as we don’t have much room in the classroom. Please see more details in today’s Monday Folder.
