Happy New Year!
How time flies when you are having fun! A New Year and a time to start anew, or at least pretend to have a clean slate : ) I spent a lot of time getting myself back to good health over break and had fun relaxing and blowing my nose at Walt Disney World while waiting in line with the gazillion other people Christmas week. Case was right there with me and we blessed dad with the cold on the way home. Sharing is caring!
I spent some time getting caught up in my Literacy and Math grading and inputting over break. I am happy to be now getting caught up this week in Theme and Homeroom. Thank you for your patience with lack of grades, while I was sick the two weeks before break. Sadly when a teacher stops, the work still keeps coming in : ) By the end of the week everything will be current on Power School for Theme and Homeroom and you will have a ton of stuff in the folders next week! Hope you all had a great break! Looking forward to seeing you next week!
Thank You
Thank you all so much for all your gifts and giving to the Heifer Project! Tomorrow at share I will be sharing with the kids how much the class donated. I will also be sharing a thank you card we received from some of the people who got our blankets that we made during the party. I was so impressed with the kids in how much they gave to those in need this year! Thanks to you too for supporting this alternative to giving to each other. It would have not gone as well without your support. Thank you again!
Up and Coming
So I had my panic attack this morning thinking tomorrow was the field trip and I hadn't called any chaperones yet. Eeeks! Thankfully my panic attack is a week early (not until next week) and I am still good. Don't forget that next Tuesday is our Field Trip to the Fiske Planetarium and that we will need be dressed for the weather that day and bring our sack lunches. I will be calling for chaperones tomorrow. If you didn't get a call, that means I had plenty of help.
Don't forget our Valentines Party is coming up in February and if you would like to help out at that, please let me know.
Conferences
Next Wednesday afternoon through Friday is our mid year Parent-Teacher Conferences. Thank you all for getting your forms in and in a timely manner. We were hoping to have the times out today, but have had some technical problems with the spreadsheet. Know that we are putting the finishing touches on it and we will hopefully be sending this home tomorrow. Thank you again for your patience with waiting to know when your child's conference will be : )
Don't forget next Wednesday is an early, early release of 11:30 and that there is no school due to conferences next Thursday and Friday!
Theme Update
Don't forget to be still attempting to check out the moon everyday. I guess due to weather or the moon not being up you can access the internet to get your information, but if the moon is up, I would prefer the normal way. This week we will be getting back into the swing of things with doing our handwriting warmups in the morning (a huge pile for me to grade right now : ), doing shares on Tuesday and Thursday, cleaning our desks, having read aloud and D.E.A.R. time and learning about our Student of the Week (Alexa).
In theme we will be continuing our work learning about the Sun, Moon and Earth. This week we will be learning about day and night, the seasons and why we have tides. On Friday I will be sending home a special project the students will get to do about the moon. Please make sure to check their Homework folders on Friday for all the juicy information.
That is it for now. While I am trying to get back into the swing of things, please let me know if I am forgetting anything. Again, thank you for all being such great families. See you all next week!
