Book Fair is here!!!!

Don't forget that the Scholastic Book Fair is this week.   We visited the Fair today during Theme to make our wish lists or buy books if we had some.   There are a ton of great books!  It's a great opportunity to buy Holiday gifts (the gift of learning) and help the Library raise money for new books.   Come and peek to see all the great selections for every age!

Chick-Fil-A Reward

We were able to get our reward for Chick-Fil-A fit into our schedule today and ate with the COW.   It was great to see him and to fill our bellies.   Good job everyone who helped us meet this goal of winning three times in a row.   Nice job!!

Winter Holiday Classroom Party

On the Friday before we get out for Winter Break, all classes will be having their Winter Holiday Classroom Parties.   Mrs. Robinson will be organizing the event, but we still need a couple helpers to come in and help out and get everything together.   Please let me know this week if you can come in on the 21st.

Secret Snowflake Gift Exchange

Every year we like to have the kids do a Secret Snowflake (like Secret Santa) gift exchange in homeroom.   Gifts need to be $10 or less and have the child's name on it of who it is to and who it is from.   We will exchange gifts during the Holiday Party on the 21st.   Next week I will be letting you know who your child's Secret Snowflake is in the Weekly Folder.   Please remember you can give to the Heifer Project for your child's Secret Snowflake gift.   If your child would like their 'gift' to be for the Heifer Project please indicate that this week!!!!  I need to know before I assign kids for next week : )

BINGO Night

This Thursday is a great Stargate Community event-BINGO night!  They will have spagetti meals catered from Fazoli's (if you preorder early this week!).   The Book Fair will also be open that night during that time and I have heard that Santa will be there as well so bring your camera.  Bring any winter clothes or jackets to donate for our Winter Weather Drive.   Finally, there is an optional cookie exchange.   All that want to partake just need to bring two dozen cookies (split up to 3-4 on a plate with a recipe attached as well).  This is going to be a great event, just sign up at the front office early this week, let them know how many are coming and if you need food : )

Items Needed for Instrumental Music Class

Ms. O'Brien is looking for the following items for her Instrumental Music classes:  paper towel tubes, wrapping paper tubes, plastic containers with lids (not water bottles or take out type of containers), heavy glass containers with lids, and metal containers with lids (like coffee tins).   She will be using these supplies to make instruments with the kids later in the year.   Make sure they are clean and ready to go too : )

Theme Update

Last week we finished up our unit on Balance, Motion and Forces.   We took our last quiz on that unit today!   This week we will be starting our unit on the Earth, Moon and Sun.   Starting next week, the children will need to track the moon through it's phases for homework every night for a month.  This is a fun experiment and really lets the kids focus in on what the moon does as it goes through it's cycle.  We will be discussing the moon in class everyday about what they are seeing too, so make sure you try your best, sometime after the sun goes down to see what it is doing.   The week before break we will be doing a brief unit on Holidays around the World.   This year we will be learning about Feliz Navidad, Kwanzaa, Ramadan, and Hanukkah, Christmas and what they celebrate in France.
