This week we are wrapping up our Communities and Mapping Unit.   At the conference I attended Friday and Saturday (Discovery Channel's Educator Network Regional Conference) I was able to use their online software and create a way cool to study for the test.   If you follow this link ( http://students.discoveryeducation.com/genericStudentIndex.cfm?cdPasscode=QED39-3FBF) you can view videos that review the content we covered in this unit and then take the multiple choice quiz to help review for the test, which is on Friday.   You can do it as often as you want or not at all; it is completely optional!

This week we are going to be talking about our community members.    We will be reviewing what these valuable members do and how important they are to our communities.   One of the community members will be the town mayor.   This is our way to cover the election process (without using the real candidates).   Anyone in the town can run for mayor.   We will be having elections on Friday and all community members can vote.   Students that are interested in running can come to class on Wednesday ready to share their 'ideas' on what they would do as mayor.   They can dress up, make posters, stickers, food, whatever-be creative.   We will be talking about how we should be picking the mayor on what they can do for our community, and that it's not a popularity contest  : )

Good job everyone on getting their town buildings in today.   If you forgot get them in a.s.a.p.
