Weekly Theme Update
Last week we finished up our mapping unit and took our end of unit quiz today. Look online early next week to see how they did. This week we will be starting our unit on Balance and Motion. This is going to be a great unit with a lot of hands on experiments and will run for four weeks.
Did You Know?
Last week we had an interesting training on copyright and making sure we are adhering to these federal laws. We have realized that we can not put copies of the homework online unless we have created it or have approval from the creator. Thus, you will not see any more homework attached online. Students can ask for a paper copy from their teacher that week (earlier the better) if they loose their work. Please make sure to email us if they need a kind reminder to bring their work home.
Gala Baskets-Last Week
This is the last week for getting items for our Gala Baskets (All About the Kids, All About the Parents, All About the Family). I want to thank all of those who donated several items including the board games, gift cards to movies and Papa Johns. The following are items that we still need for our baskets: ski passes, wine, wine charms, zoo tickets, show tickets, video games (or Blockbuster gift card), sporting event tickets, DVD's, Stargate Logo wear for kids and adults, Elitch passes, baby sitting service (good idea for an older sib who likes to babysit), CD's or music store gift certificate (or I-tunes), sporting goods, or Gift Cards to-Boondocks, Chuck-E-Cheese, Starbucks, Target. Look at those E-books for coupons, call your friends who have connections, do whatever we need to do to get these baskets full before the end of the week. Remember every little bit helps and to email me what you can donate so I can cross it off the list.
Halloween Party
This week is our Halloween Party which will take place on Wednesday ,the last hour of the day, after lunch/recess. Please remember the costume rules of no gore, hair dyes, masks, face paint or weapons. Students need to come to school dressed normal and have their costumes in a bag to change into for the party. We have some good food planned for them and some nice activities as well. There will be lots of pictures taken to add to our annual pictures. If you would like to help out at any of the rest of the classroom parties for the year let me know. I like to have everyone to have at least one turn coming in to participate in the fun activities. Thank you all for your support in making our parties a huge success!
Upcoming Field Trip
On November 6th we will be going to Pump It Up for a field trip on Balance and Motion. Field trip forms are in today's white Weekly Folder and are due back no later than November 2nd. Please indicate if you can take the day off to come with us and help out. I can have three volunteers on each field trip. Last time I had the perfect amount. Everyone that is interested gets at least one turn. Make sure to sign up!
Marble Party!
Well, it took us a little longer, but we did it! We have finally filled our marble jar and earned our next Marble Party. Our Marble Party will be on Friday and is a Game Day theme. This means that they can dress in p.j.'s (it's just fun) and bring in our favorite board game to play on Friday during Theme time. Please remember no electronic games like Game Boys.
Chick-Fil-A Night is Here!
This week, on Thursday, is our monthly night off from cooking by eating dinner at Chick-Fil-A night. Oh, I mean it is Stargate Fundraising night at Chick-Fil-A on Thursday night. Our class has had the highest amount of participants the last two times. Let's see if we can be three time winners and earn breakfast with the Cow! Remember it is a win, win, win situation-you don't have to cook, we raise money for the school and the kids have fun! How can you loose : )
Stargate Gala-Diamonds and Denim
Don't forget our annual Gala is on November 10th! The events start at 6 with an auction viewing till 7. Dinner will be served from 7-8 followed by dancing the night away. Auction winners will be announced at 9, 9:30, and 10 including the winner of the 'My Teacher Needs a Vacation' raffle. There are many great special auction items including ski lessons from your very own, Mrs. Huey (I used to be a ski instructor in a past life : ). I look forward to seeing you all there!!!!
Jewels For Hope
Did you clean out your jewelry box this weekend? Well it is not too late. Take a gander at those items you just don't need or use anymore and think about how you can make a difference for someone with diabetes. Your unused or unwanted, gently used jewerly (costume or real) can be donated to the Jewels For Hope campaign. Please contact Cheryl Lebsock to donate your items or for any more questions. Thank you for helping out one of our classmates and for others with Diabetes too!
Hope you all have a great week!!!!
