Halloween Party the 31st

Next Wednesday will be our first classroom party of the school year.   My room mom will be contacting those who signed up to help out early this week.  The party will take place the last hour of school (12:35-1:30-early release day).  Students will be given time after recess to put on their costumes that they brought in a bag that day.  Please remember the no masks, fact paint, hair dye, weapons or gore rules for the costumes.  In lieu of my son not being able to wear a costume to his school, we save his costume we picked out (red Power Ranger this year) at home to help pass out the candy.  Thank you all for your help and support to make this party a success!

Pictures

Through out the year I bring my camera in for important events like field trips and classroom parties.  At the end of the year I burn them onto cds for all of you to have and hold.  If you get any pictures while you are with our class, please burn them to a cd and send them in when you get them.  They tend to get forgotten if you don't do it right after the event.  Thank you for your help with this.

Field Trip the 25th

Don't forget this Thursday is our first field trip of the year to the Berry Patch Farms.   We will need sack lunches, probably a jacket (cold in the mornings) and shoes to wear on a farm (possible muck).

Gala

This year the Stargate Gala will be held November 10, 2007 at the Ramada Plaza in Northglenn.  This year the theme 'Diamonds and Denim' is a little more relaxed in dress and the price per ticket is cheaper to appeal to more people ($75 per couple).   There will also be Child Care!!!!!    WOW!!!!    Come and have fun with us while fundraising for our school!   It is going to be alot of fun!!!!!!

Don't forget, if you haven't already, items for our classroom Gala baskets.   Please let me know what items you can send in or if you need to know what to get.   Items are due by November 2nd!

Founder's Conference

Did you know there is a carnival this Friday (the day before the Stargate Founders Conference on the 26th)?   Everyone is welcome to come to the carnival (October 25th) and you can even dress up in your halloween costume.  They will be selling Chick-Fil-A that night, but you need to get your orders in early!!!   Hope to see you there!!!

Don't forget to sign up to attend the conference too.   Contact Valicia McPherson for more information at valicia.d.mcpherson@adams12.org or visit her website at http://stargateconference.pbwiki.com/

Hearing and Vision Screening

It is that time of year again, time to get our hearing and vision checked out.   We will be getting this done tomorrow.

Box Tops and yoplait lids

Did you know we are always collecting Box Tops and Campbells Soup Labels throughout the year?  At one point in the year we have a competition here at the school to see which classroom can collect the most.  The ones you send in now, I save for the competition.   So, if you are sick of seeing them at home send them in.

Pink Yoplait lids are still being collected as well until December 21st.   We are currently in mid-competition for which class collects the most this year.  Please make sure to send those in as well to help the cause towards the cure to breast cancer.

Jewels for Hope

Wow!   I am in the middle of typing up this weeks newsletter (I won't tell you what time of night it is : ) and thinking how much our classroom gives to the community!!!!!   This year I want to add to our impact by helping out a cause that helps one of our classmates.  Many of you already know that we have a student in our class with Diabetes.   Well, his mom helps coordinate this great fundraising event throughout the year called Jewels for Hope.  I have atttached her letter this week for you to puruse at your leisure.  My hope is that everyone can take this opportunity to clean out those jewelry boxes and purge them of gently used jewerly (costume or real) that you need to pass on.   I can collect these items and pass them onto Mrs. Lebsock or you can contact her yourself personally.   This is a great opportunity for poeple to help people and to help ourselves and simplify our stuff : )  Thank you for helping out with this great cause!!!!

Chick-Fil-A Party

Last week we had our second party celebrating our class having the most at Stargate's latest Chick-Fil-A fundraising night.   I am so proud of our class for getting this and even more proud of getting it a second time!  I was informed, that the next time we win this great recognition, that we will get to have breakfast with the cow!   Let's see if we can get three in a row!   The next Chick-Fil-A fundraising night is on Thursday, November 1st-next week!   See you there!

Reading for Others-

In the class every year, the kids keep track of how many books we read in class.   When our kids read 100 books, Scholastic will donate 100 books to those less fortunate.   This is one of the many ways we in our class like to contribute to our community in a positive way.
