Our First Field Trip
We will be having our first field trip of the year to the Berry Patch Farms on Thursday, October 25th. Forms are due by October 16th, when we come back. If you can come and help out, please let us know on the form.
Conference Week is Here!!!
This week is conference week. What that means is that there is no school Wednesday afternoon (early, early release of 11:30) or all day on Thursday or Friday. Having this time off from the children enables us to schedule times to meet with you. In the Monday folders you will see your conference time based upon your top three choices. Please make sure to be a little early in order to get all of your conference time. Remember you only get 20 minutes. We look forward to seeing you then.
New Specials
This week we start our next round of specials. For this round of specials we will have Instrumental Music and Art. We will alternate daily (on school days) starting with Instrumental on Monday and Wednesday of this week and Art on Tuesday. Next week we will start the week of with Art on Tuesday. We will have this set of specials for 6 weeks ending the first trimester.
New Theme Unit
This week marks the beginning of a new Theme unit as well. We will be starting our unit of Maps and Globes. Students will be learning about basic map skills, the names and locations of the 7 continents as well as the 4 main oceans. The first homework (coming home this week) will be on making a map of their bedroom and is not due until the 16th. In class this week we will be practicing basic map making in class by making a map of the classroom.

Wow!!!! What a great ending to the Family Unit; all of us coming together to share our family recipes. It was definately an experience, but one that the kids will remember. I wanted to thank all of you for going the extra mile and making the time to help the kids bring in these recipes, supplies and even coming in to help out. Thank you all for doing this, it was a great learning opportunity that we provided for them. You will be able to pick up their recipe book at your conference to share the love at home.
School Spirit Day
On Tuesday is School Spirit Day! All students will get to wear their purple and gold to show their school spirit (while still following dress code and no hair coloring). We will also have a 'Sock Hop' Pep Rally for our teams (volleyball and soccer) in the afternoon. Make sure to wear your socks that day too!
Did You Know?
