Literacy and Math in Full Swing

In this week's Weekly Folder, you will be receiving a report on how your child did with our Fall assessments and who their teachers will be for Literacy and Math.   Last Wednesday was our first day of switching and the kids are doing really well with it.  On Tuesday night, you will get to meet your child's Literacy and Math teachers and to see what they will be covering for the year and learn their expectations.  Seeing as this is our first full week of switching, expect to see homework from all classes, including Theme, in their purple Homework Folder.  If it doesn't come home, just shoot me an email so I can remind them :)

Congratulations Class!!!!

Our class is the winner for the most in attendance to the last Chick-Fill-A fundraising night a couple weeks ago!!!!!  For our reward, we will have a chicken nuggets and lemonade party during Theme on Friday!  Thank you to all the parents for going to the fundraising night.  Hope to see you there again next time!  Good job class!

Curriculum Night

Don't forget that curriculm night is this Tuesday, starting at 6:00 p.m.  See you there!

Weekly Theme Update

Last week we wrapped up our Friendship Unit.  This week we will be starting off our Family unit.  We will be learning about our families, some of their traditions, where our families originate and what makes each of our families unique.   With this unit we will also be bringing in a family recipe (next week) and compiling a family classroom cookbook. I am also planning on having families come in, during this unit, with their family dishes to share with the class.  Recipes that have a lot of history are ideal.  On Monday we will have a lesson on the three branches of the goverenment in recognition of Constitution Day.

Picture Day

Fall Picture Day will be on September 21st.  Don't forget to look your best and wear your smiles :)

No Name Papers

Every time I pass out papers I remind the children to put their names on their papers.  I give multiple reminders individually and as a whole class constantly throughout the day, to put your name on your paper.  I even have a sign by the turn in bin asking them if they remembered to put their name on their paper.  As I sat and graded papers this weekend I found many no name papers.  The no name papers go on the board in hopes of being recognized.  I even call kids up who are missing papers to check the no name pile.  Sadly, the no name papers stay up for only one week and then they are recycled, leaving a zero in my grade book.  Please, please, please remind your child to not waste their time or mine, and put their name on their paper :)  Thank you for your help with this!

Website Tip of the Week

Wondering if there is something for your child to do after school here at Stargate?  Our school offers many after school options, from Eagle's Landing (childcare enrichment program), in house clubs like origami and card collecting, classes like Monart art class and many LEGO classes for those LEGO maniacs, musical lessons, sports, and even our own LEGO teams.  To find out what is out there, scan the weekly Star News or go under the Student tab on the main page and look under the Activities option.  Click on any of the bolded options on the left to see what is out there for your child.

Hope you all have a spectacular week!!!!!
