Theme Update

Last week we learned alot about forces and what are the three main types of forces: push, pull and twist.   We also talked about how objects stay in motion unless other wise acted upon and what that would look like in space.   We talked about the opposing force of friction, and about gravity.   This week we will be talking about balance and how forces are important in balance.

We Won Again!!!

Last Chick-Fil-A School Fundraising night we had the most students there from our class.   Thus we have won three times in a row and have earned breakfast with the Cow.   I need to figure out the logistics of this for they  want to do it in the morning when they would be off in their classes.   I will get back to you after I figured it out and let you know when we will be celebrating this great event.   Thank you all for helping support the school!!

Gala Update!

Thank you all for coming to the Gala.   I couldn't believe how many baskets were there!!!!   I was also so excited...

Field Trip On Tuesday!

Don't forget that we are having a field trip on Tuesday to Pump It Up!   Students will need to bring socks (or wear them) and a sack lunch for the day.   It's Not Too Late...

Did you not get around to contributing in some way to the classroom donated Gala Basket?   Not to worry, we are taking last minute items till Wednesday.   If you don't have the time to shop or have nothing around the house to regift that fits our theme, just send in some money.   If we get a little from everyone, we can put it together to make a big gift card or a few to somewhere or for something.   Every little bit helps.   If you can't make it to a cash machine, like me, just write a check to Sharon Robinson and she will take care of everything : )   Thank you all for all the great things that were donated for the baskets.   I am so excited to see it all put together!!!!

Scholastic Orders Due

Last Monday we sent out a new packet of Scholastic order forms.  If you would like to order...

Scholastic Orders Due

Last Monday we sent out a new packet of Scholastic order forms.  If you would like to order from this round, please send in your orders and checks in by Tuesday the 6th.   Mrs. Galyon, my Scholastic Book order coordinator, made a good point on saving money on shipping and taxes on buying those early holiday gifts.   Take advantage while you can.   There are many great titles out there to buy!!!!

Weekly Theme Update

Last week we finished up our mapping unit and took our end of unit quiz today.   Look online early next week to see how they did.   This week we will be starting our unit on Balance and Motion.   This is going to be a great unit with a lot of hands on experiments and will run for four weeks.

Did You Know?

Last week we had an interesting training on copyright and making sure we are adhering to these federal laws.   We have realized that we can not put copies of the homework online unless we have created it or have approval from the creator.   Thus, you will not see any more homework attached online.   Students can ask for a paper copy from their teacher that week (earlier the better) if they loose their work.   Please make sure to email us if they need a kind reminder to bring their work home.

Gala Baskets-Last Week

This is the last week for getting items for our Gala Baskets (All About the Kids, All About the Parents, All About the Family).   I want...

Halloween Party the 31st

Next Wednesday will be our first classroom party of the school year.   My room mom will be contacting those who signed up to help out early this week.  The party will take place the last hour of school (12:35-1:30-early release day).  Students will be given time after recess to put on their costumes that they brought in a bag that day.  Please remember the no masks, fact paint, hair dye, weapons or gore rules for the costumes.  In lieu of my son not being able to wear a costume to his school, we save his costume we picked out (red Power Ranger this year) at home to help pass out the candy.  Thank you all for your help and support to make this party a success!

Pictures

Through out the year I bring my camera in for important events like field trips and classroom parties.  At the end of the year I burn them onto cds for all of you to have and hold.  If you get any pictures while you are with our class, please burn them to a cd and send them in when you get them.  They...

This week we will be continuing our lessons on mapping.  We will be learning about what a key is, how to read one and make one, what important things we should have on our maps, and how to use a coordinate grid.  We will also be learning what are the 7 main continents and 4 main oceans.  We will learn where they are, their names and a little bit about them.  There is no homework this week.  Please make sure your bedroom maps are turned in... they were due today (Tuesday, October 16th)! Conference Week is Here!!!This week is conference week.  What that means is that there is no school Wednesday afternoon (early, early release of 11:30) or all day on Thursday or Friday.  Having this time off from the children enables us to schedule times to meet with you.   In the Monday folders you will see your conference time based upon your top three choices.  Please make sure to be a little early in order to get all of your conference time.  Remember you only get 20 minutes.  We look forward to seeing you then.

New SpecialsThis week we start our next round of specials.  For this round of specials we will have Instrumental Music and Art.  We will alternate daily (on school days) starting with Instrumental on Monday and Wednesday...

Weekly Theme Update-

Last week everyone turned in their favorite family recipe.  It was great that we will all get to share our family recipes and the memories around them.  This week will be our final week for the family unit and in celebration, everyone needs to bring in their favorite family food (ideally the same as last week's recipe).  I have many families signed up, but if I haven't heard from you by the end of Monday, I will be making some phone calls to get you signed up!

This week we will be working on our final drafts of our Family Trees.  The kids did a great job on their rough drafts of their family trees the week before last.  Now we just need to put them on a poster and make them beautiful.  One of the nice touches one of the kids did in class is to actually draw a tree in the back ground and put the family tree outline over the top of it.  It was really a nice touch.  Students need to only do their immediate family up to grand parents and Aunts and Uncles.  They can go as far as they...
