The insect project research is coming along in the afternoons! There will be a slip coming home in the Monday folders with your child’s presentation date and time on it. On Monday we are going to do a lesson on why insects are important and practice writing topic sentences about this issue to review before we start putting together our paragraphs for the insect research papers. On Tuesday-Thursday the students will be finishing their insect research and paragraph writing. You should expect the student’s index cards that they put all their paragraph research on to be coming on Friday to help them prepare for their presentations.
This project has been a lot of fun to work on in class, and I hope that your child is having fun working on it at home as well!
It would be very helpful to have parent volunteers in Tuesday-Thursday to help with the researching and paragraph writing process. Please email me if you have time and are interested in helping the kids be successful with this.

We are starting the Insect Unit this week! We will be taking a pre-test, discussing the characteristics of defining what an insect is, and learning about the butterfly life cycle. The students will be bringing home the independent insect project assignment home in their Monday folders this week. Attached to it will be a list of insects that students have chosen to do for the project in the past for ideas, but students may also pick an insect that is not on that list.
Homework this week is to decide on an insect that they want to do for your independent study project and submit it to me by Wednesday.
