Band & Orchestra

There is separate 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade band and orchestra. Students are able to participate on an ability level more comfortable with their peers without missing academic classes. In addition, all instrumental students have a group lesson once a week in twenty-minute sessions. These sessions allow increased personal attention with more fluid rehearsals. All lessons and rehearsals occur during regular school hours.

Curriculum encompasses general music theory review, chamber music, and exposure to famous muscians and repertoire pertinent to the individual instruments and ensembles. Also, ensembles rehearse group pieces and perform in 2 - 3 concerts during the school year.

Orchestra auditions are held for 5th/6th grade student pianist. The pianist's role is considered as an ensemble player for supportive and possibly solo parts.

The 5th/6th grade ensembles are generally beginning to early intermediate levels and the 7th/8th grade ensembles are generally at an intermediate level.

For more information about Band & Orchestra please contact Ariane O'Brien at 303-450-3936 or by email.
