If you are still interested in running for an open PSC position, nomination information can be found there as well. Go to the documents tab, and select Election.
Teacher Requests - As we prepare for next year, we would like to reiterate the value of parent involvement in your gifted child's education. Some parents make requests for their child's placement in specific homerooms. One of the many benefits of mixed-age classrooms is the multi-year relationship among child, teacher, and family. For those moving to new age levels, keep in mind that the request for specific teachers, based upon reputation, is not as helpful as the information we receive from parents about insight into your child's learning style, behavioral patterns, and social/emotional needs. Our homeroom placements are based upon matching teachers with these student characteristics, as well as building a homeroom that is balanced in age, gender, ethnicity, learning styles, and special needs. Current teachers of each child also provide their insights in these areas as we attempt to place your child in the most positive, effective environment. Therefore, we recognize that we will not be able to honor your requests for a specific teacher. Thanks for understanding!

Note from Ms. Posateri- Many of you have seen "Stop Hate" buttons on students, teachers, and administrators over the past two weeks. On April 9th a Holocaust Survivor, Jack Adler, spoke to the 7th and 8th Grade students. His speech was very moving and had a deep impact on the students. His message connects to the anti-bullying work we've been doing all year in Team Building, in the Speak Up/Teaching Tolerance Curriculum, and in the classroom. One strong message he had is that words have power and how we treat each other every day can have a positive or negative impact. When we hurt each other in these small ways it contributes to the violence and harm that is happening in the world around us. When we treat each other with kindness, we can begin to change the world! The "Stop Hate" buttons are a daily reminder to live by the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Ask any of the 7/8 students about Jack Adler or the buttons when you see them. If you are interested in more information about Jack Adler please visit www.jackadler.com.
