Stargate School - Admissions Overview

Applications for 2010-2011 are now being accepted. We will take applications for the next school year thru February 5th, 2010. We encourage applicants to submit all year long in the event we exhaust our waitlist or waitpool. Your child MUST be 5 years old by 9/15/10 to be considered for Kindergarten in the 2010-2011 school year.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year. We are in the process of updating the Admission's Policy for the 2010-2011 school year, however, the forms are current. Please note three major changes to the application process for 2010-2011. You will need to provide two proofs of residency (utility bills, driver's liscense, etc.) and the most current version of the CSAP test scores that you may have. This will help to make the application process easier for our parents. There is also a new Parent and Teacher nomination form. They are the same form, but each will need to be filled out seperately.

There are new forms and policies affecting applicants for the 2009-2010 school year.

The new forms for 2010-2011 applicants are posted in the documents section. Please be sure to read the new policies.

Some important changes:

1. The date of application will no longer be a sorting criteria for qualified applicants.

2. We will only accept the most recent versions of the IQ tests, as listed in the Admissions Policy.

3. There are different packets for Kindergarten-Grade 2 and Grades 3-8.

4. The Application for Financial Aid is an optional form.

5. You can not re-test for one year if you apply with a test that it does not meet our minimum requirements.

6. There are new forms for Parent/Teacher Nominations. The form is the same for both but must be filled out
seperately.

Your child MUST be 5 years old on 9/15/10 to attend school for the 2010-2011 school year and participate in the lottery pull.

A lottery system will affect new Stargate applicants for the 2008-2009 school year and beyond. Previously qualified, wait listed families are exempted from this process.

All students on existing wait lists may remain on those lists until they receive seat offers, so long as they confirm their interest in remaining on the wait list in writing each winter, per our admissions policy. This is known as the "grandfathered" wait list.

Existing wait lists will be used until all in-district students on the lists receive seat offers. Once the wait list at each grade is exhausted, the lottery process will affect applicants for that grade going forward.

At any grade level where there is currently no wait list (Kindergarten every year), a lottery process will determine seating for all qualified students as seats become available.

In Kindergarten and all other grades affected by the lottery, qualified siblings receive the first available seats. All remaining seats are subject to lottery and will be filled by random pulls from the pool of qualified applicants. After initial seats are pulled to match the number of available seats, a reserve list of 10 students per grade level will be generated. If initial seat offers are declined, we will make seat offers to the students off the reserve list in the order they were pulled. This reserve list will be scrapped and regenerated each admissions season.

Seat offer letters were sent on April 6th, 2010. Your signed acceptance letter is due in the school no later than 3pm on Friday, April 16, 2010. We will not accept late letters for any reason, including late mail.

When can I begin an application to Stargate?

We begin accepting applications for Kindergarten roughly a year and a half before the child is ready to enter. We are currently accepting applications for the 2009-2010 school year. Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years old by September 15 of the year they intend to enroll.

First graders must be 6 years old by September 15 of the year they intend to enroll.

Our application deadlines are posted online each year. The deadline for students applying for the 2009-2010 school year is January 30, 2009.

Stargate School

Admission Testing Scholarship Process

Purpose:

Families in need of funds who have completed the admissions application process may apply for a scholarship to offset the cost of the IQ test. The maximum yearly amount provided by Stargate for these scholarships is $2,450.00.

Process:

1. By January 4, 2010 applicants must submit to the Admissions Coordinator a Scholarship Application Form (available at the Stargate front desk), the Family Economic Data survey (verified by the Accounting Specialist), and a completed Stargate Admissions packet.

2. Families must sign a promissory note stipulating that if they refuse a seat at Stargate, they will return the scholarship money. The Accounting Specialist will send a letter to the applicant reminding them of their obligation to repay the scholarship within one month.

3. Families qualifying for free and reduced lunch will be eligible for the scholarship on a “first-come, first-served” basis.

4. After the Accounting Specialist notifies the Admissions Coordinator of the applicant’s qualifications for a scholarship, the Coordinator will relay the message to the applicant within two weeks of the application date. The recipient must use the scholarship money within three months of its approval or by the admissions application deadline, whichever comes first.

5. A check of $175.00 will be issued by Stargate directly to the approved testing provider. The family will be liable for the balance of the fee unless the fee is less than $175.00, in which case Stargate will issue the appropriate amount directly to the provider. Stargate will only provide $350.00 per family for families testing more than one child.
